Request deletion of your personal data

We respect your right to privacy and control over your personal data. This page explains how to request deletion of your data from HuntStash.

What Gets Deleted?

When you request data deletion, the following information will be permanently removed from our systems:

  • Account Information: Your profile, email, phone number, and username
  • Activity History: All treasure claims, transactions, and interactions
  • Location Data: GPS coordinates and location history from claims
  • Wallet Data: Transaction history and reward records
  • Social Connections: Followers, following, and social interactions
  • Content: Comments, reactions, and any user-generated content

Important: Before You Request Deletion

  • Pending Withdrawals: Withdraw all funds from your wallet before requesting deletion. Any remaining balance will be forfeited.
  • Irreversible Action: Data deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You will lose access to all your rewards, achievements, and history.
  • Active Campaigns: If you created campaigns with active treasures, they will be deactivated immediately.
  • Financial Records: We may retain transaction records for up to 7 years as required by Nigerian law for tax and accounting purposes.
  • Processing Time: Deletion requests are typically processed within 30 days.

How to Request Data Deletion

Request via Your Account Settings

  1. Log in to your HuntStash account
  2. Go to Profile → Settings → Account
  3. Scroll to the Danger Zone section
  4. Click "Delete My Account"
  5. Confirm your identity and submit the deletion request

Request via Email

If you cannot access your account, send an email to our privacy team:

Include in your email:
  • Your full name as registered on HuntStash
  • Your registered email address
  • Your username (if you remember it)
  • Subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
  • Reason for deletion (optional)

For Facebook Login Users

If you signed up using Facebook, you can request data deletion through Facebook:

  1. Go to your Facebook Settings → Apps and Websites
  2. Find HuntStash in the list
  3. Click Remove to revoke app access
  4. Or use our deletion callback URL for automated processing

Note: This will disconnect your Facebook account and trigger our data deletion process automatically.

What Happens After You Request Deletion?

Step 1: Confirmation Email

You'll receive a confirmation email within 24 hours acknowledging your deletion request.

Step 2: Account Deactivation

Your account will be immediately deactivated. You won't be able to log in or access any data during the 30-day grace period.

Step 3: Permanent Deletion

After 30 days, all your data will be permanently deleted from our systems. This action is irreversible.

Step 4: Final Confirmation

You'll receive a final email confirming that your data has been deleted.

30-Day Grace Period

Changed your mind? You have 30 days to cancel your deletion request. To cancel:

  • Email [email protected] with the subject "Cancel Data Deletion"
  • Include your registered email and username
  • We'll reactivate your account within 48 hours

Data We May Retain

For legal and regulatory compliance, we may retain certain information even after account deletion:

  • Financial Records: Transaction history for tax purposes (up to 7 years as required by Nigerian law)
  • Fraud Prevention: Device identifiers and IP addresses to prevent fraud and abuse
  • Legal Obligations: Data required for ongoing legal proceedings or investigations
  • Anonymized Data: Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics for analytics (cannot be traced back to you)

This data retention is in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and other applicable laws.
